About Costa Rica Journeys

Costa Rica Journeys is an independent travel guide to Costa Rica. Since 2011 we have published more than 1,000 guides to the country’s regions and towns, beaches, surf breaks, yoga retreats, national parks and wildlife, along with the hotels, eco-lodges and other places worth staying.

What you’ll find here

  • Destination guides to every region, from Guanacaste and the Nicoya Peninsula to the Caribbean coast and the Osa Peninsula.
  • Places to stay, from small eco-lodges and B&Bs to beachfront hotels, described by setting, style and what you can do there.
  • Things to do: surfing, yoga, diving, rafting, canopy tours, fishing and more.
  • National parks and wildlife: where to go and what you might see.
  • Trip planning: weather, getting around and practical tips.

How we work

  • No prices. Rates change too often to stay accurate, so we describe what a place offers and link to its own website for current prices.
  • Closed places come off the site. When a hotel or business closes, we remove its page and send readers to the nearest relevant guide.
  • Links and facts are checked. We review articles and links as places change, and fix errors as soon as we hear about them.

Read our editorial policy for more on how guides are written and updated.

Who we are

Costa Rica Journeys is edited by Geoff McCabe, whose photographs appear throughout the site, with guides contributed over the years by a team of travel writers.
