By Air : We advice you to take Sansa which flies out of the International airport Juan Santamaria. You can check their schedules online to see if it fits your itinerary also book your flights. Alternatively you can fly with Nature Air which flies out of Pavas, not far from the international airport.

You can check their schedules online and book your flights: You will be flying into Tambor, which takes 25 minutes. From Tambor we can arrange for you that our Hotel SUV picks you up or a Taxi, or have a car rental to meet you there and you could do the 50-min drive yourself.

By Car : From San Jose drive to the port town of Puntarenas on the west coast of Costa Rica, a 2 hour drive. Take the ferry Tambor 1 or 2 across the Gulf of Nicoya to Paquera, a 1.5 hour ferry ride. From Paquera drive via Tambor and Cobano to Mal Pais that is about a 1.5 to 2 hour drive. Turn left at the Mal Pais/Santa Teresa crossroads continue one km until you see our hotel sign to your left. Drive up the hill about 400 meters until you arrive at the Mal Pais Hotel.

Rent a Car : You can rent a car either in San Jose or in Mal Pais. Your rental car can be brought to the Tambor airport.
