La Costa de Papito

La Costa de Papito is a lush tropical hotel located across the road of white sand Cocles Beach. The hotel is just one and a half kilometers away from Puerto Viejo town, Limon. La Costa de Papito is also called the Garden of Eden as it spreads on the edge of the jungle.

Owned by Eddie Ryan, La Costa de Papito was just a piece of green land until Eddie first visited Puerto Viejo town from New York City in 1984. Just by glimpsing the paradise land Eddie fell in love with it and in 1987 he cashed on the property on his credit card! The inception and foundation of La Costa de Papito came to history when Eddie Ryan constructed the first ever bungalow in 1993. With the span of years, La Costa de Papito just had unstoppable up gradation and with the reputation of hotel rising to prominence its fame led to influx of bungalows and other recreational activities.

Today La Costa de Papito strives to bring tourists the best lodging experience by offering posh bungalows with plenty of air circulation, large window openings and maximum privacy.

La Costa de Papito strongly believes in preserving the foliage and is committed to sustainable tourism practices. It is dedicated to reduce environmental damage and thereby operates in a socially responsible manner which benefits both the local communities and their cultures.

Accommodation

The bungalows are architected with rustic wooden structures and crafted elegantly to boast jungle royalty. There are 13 private bungalows spread over extravagant 5 acre tropical land. The bungalows are set apart in the following order:

  • 2 Bedroom Bungalow (2-6 people)
  • 3 Bed Bungalow A (2-5 people)

  • Budget Cabin (1-4 people)

The bungalows are specially designed to circulate cool breeze – with large windows setting the view onto heliconias, palms, gingers, bromeliads and tropical flowers and fruit trees. You can now ward off stress and relax from your routine life by comfortably situating yourself around the porch. Each bungalow includes a hammock, and a comfortable wooden chair. The door and window openings are well protected with nettings to prevent invasion of mosquitoes or other flying insects. There’s Wi-Fi support as well in case you want to connect to work life for a brisk while. Blankets are provided as temperatures drop after 10pm.

Restaurant

Que Rico Papito is a restaurant and bar famous for its exquisite Costa Rican and Caribbean gourmets. Beverages are available in varieties such as fresh fruit juices, cocktails and tropical juices. The restaurant at dinner time is illuminated with dim lighting setting the view of the restaurant not less to a five star restaurant! With live music and exotic food the restaurant becomes a spot not to miss.

Other Services

Facilities like spa, yoga, kayaking, snorkeling, dolphin watching, leatherback turtle nesting, jaguar animal rescue center, canopy, horseback riding, surfing lessons, hiking and beauty salon to relax and revive are available.

How to get there

La Costa de Papito resides in the town of Puerto Viejo which is just 4.5 to 5 hour drive from San Jose. If you’re in Puerto Viejo town, on the beach road, the distance is just 5 minutes traveling via a motor vehicle.

By Private Van: From San Jose if you’re staying in any hotel you can be easily picked up from your hotel in a private van service and vice versa. This van will transport you to the gates of the Garden of Eden – La Costa de Papito. The driver is familiar with the roads of Puerto Viejo and can be your guide making your trip not only interesting but also informative.

By Interbus: Air-conditioned shuttle service is available from any hotel in San Jose or Arenal (La Fortuna) to La Costa de Papito. Traveling time is between 4.5 to 5 hours. Depending on traffic condition you can arrive early.
