\"\"<\/a>Apart from the Witch’s Rock<\/a>, Costa Rica also boasts of Jaco and Playa Hermosa<\/strong> when it comes to giving surfers the best breaks and waves they can ride their boards on. These two beaches are just ten minutes away from each other so checking out what Jaco and Playa Hermosa<\/strong> have to offer wouldn’t be much trouble.<\/p>\n

Jaco and Playa Hermosa<\/strong> have multitudes of peaks that’s why it’s always a surfer’s delight to stumble on an uncrowded peak the whole year round. Also known to have the most consistent breaks in the world, these two beaches are a must-surf spot for anyone who seeks the thrill of braving high-rising waves.<\/p>\n

There’s more than one Playa Hermosa in Costa Rica<\/strong><\/p>\n

What most travelers get confused with is that there are actually several beaches called Playa Hermosa in Costa rica. One is in Jaco, and other one is located in the province of Guanacaste<\/a> while still another is just north of Santa Teresa in the southern Nicoya peninsula.<\/p>\n

The Difference between these Two Beaches<\/strong><\/p>\n

Playa Hermosa<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"playa-hermosa-costarica\"<\/a>Playa Hermosa invites more experienced surfers from all over the world as the breaks in this area area a lot more challenging. It’s not advisable for rookies to ride the waves here. The surfing community here is relatively small. Hotels and restaurants here aren’t as grand too, just surfer-friendly enough for visiting surfing enthusiasts.<\/p>\n

The most popular event that takes place in Playa Hermosa every month of August is the annual International Quicksilver Surfing Championships. It’s no wonder this hot spot for surfing is flocked by surfers and tourists.<\/p>\n

Playa Jaco<\/strong><\/p>\n

Unlike Playa Hermosa, Jaco is a much more active town considering the party scene and nightlife they offer surfers worldwide. The community here is relatively small as well but the hotels, discos, bars and restaurants are plenty, attracting a younger market. More than its metropolitan touch, Playa Jaco’s waves can be as equally challenging as that of Playa Hermosa’s.<\/p>\n

Apart from surfing, Playa Jaco has expanded their options, banking on deep sea fishing, ATV Tours<\/a>, whitewater rafting<\/a>, kayaking<\/a>, horsebackriding only to name a few.<\/p>\n

Tips and Tricks<\/strong><\/p>\n

Aside from the mad surfing, it’s recommended to try other activities while you’re in Jaco and Playa<\/strong> Hermosa<\/strong>. Island tours, sportfishing, safari explorations and discovering nature reserves in the area are other must-do’s in these two beaches. You’d be surprised on what you’ll see and get once you experience these other ways of exploring Costa Rica.<\/p>\n

It is also highly suggested not to park your cars by the beachfront and leaving your valuables visible inside. Stealing in this area is pretty rampant. You don’t want to leave Jaco and Playa Hermosa<\/strong> with a bad experience.<\/p>\n

Jaco and Playa Hermosa<\/strong> is collectively known as the surfers’ Mecca in the Caribbean<\/a> side of Costa Rica. So if you’re in town and ready to experience the wave of your life, you better not skip on bringing your boards to these beaches or surely, you’ll forever miss out.<\/p>\n

Getting There<\/strong> <\/p>\n

From the International Airport of San Jose<\/a>, it’s only a short 2-hour drive to get to Jaco and Playa Hermosa. The best time to hit these two beaches is between the months of April to November where the water temperature is just right and the waves are ready to be ridden on.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Places to Stay Near Jaco and Playa Hermosa<\/strong> <\/p>\n

There are a lot of hotels you can choose from in Jaco and Playa Hermosa whether you’re on a budget or luxury trip. Hotel Fuego del Sol<\/a>, Best Western Jaco Beach<\/a>, Backyard Hotel<\/a> and Hotel Arenal Pacifico<\/a> are just some of the hotels that are dotted along the shorelines of these two popular beaches.<\/p>\n

It’s advisable to make advanced reservations as these hotels easily get fully booked once the surfing season is going.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
