It\u2019s only a five hour flight from most parts of the United States, and much closer to the East Coast than Hawaii is. \u00a0To get to the Mal Pais \/ Santa Teresa area, either fly from San Jos\u00e9 to the Tambor airport, or \u00a0drive from <a href=\"http:\/\/\/costaricajourneys.com\/san-jose-province\/\">San Jos\u00e9<\/a> to Puntarenas take the ferry to Paquera. From there, drive south through Tambor to C\u00f3bano. From there you can drive to Mal Pais, Santa Teresa, or Manzanillo. \u00a0It\u2019s another 20-30 minutes to Malpais from C\u00f3bano. Total time from San Jose to Malpais is\u00a0approximately\u00a04-6 hours. The ferry leaves every 2-3 hours it varies from season to season.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nBy Car<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We strongly recommend a 4&#215;4 so you can travel worry-free on the Costa Rican roads.<br \/>\nComing from San Jose, you take the Highway No. 1 Interamericana drive northwest for 2 hours heading to <a href=\"https:\/\/costaricajourneys.com\/puntarenas-province\/\">Puntarenas<\/a>. Then take a ferry to Paquera, positioned on the Nicoya peninsula. In high season, there is a ferry leaving for Paquera about every two hours. Once on the ferry, enjoy the beautiful sunshine and natures beauty for about one hour 15 minutes. It takes another 1.5 hours from Paquera\u00a0 until you get to Mal Pais. Take the road to Playa Tambor,continue straight to Cobano. From Cobano you follow the road until you get to Playa El Carmen. On the right hand see for a sign that reads &#8220;Frank&#8217;s Place&#8221;. The intersection that divides Playas El Carmen and Santa Teresa in the north from Mal Pais in the south. To get to Beija Flor, you take a left turn at this intersection follow the road for a little more than 5 minutes until you see the Beija Flor entrance and coffee shop on your left hand side.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong> <strong><br \/>\nBy Plane<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sansa and Nature Air are the two different airlines that offer their services within\u00a0for further details you can see to mentioned email or phone number below. The flight takes about 25 minutes we can arrange a taxi transfer to Beija Flor Resort for you from the airstrip at Playa Tambor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Shuttle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We also can arrange a shuttle transfer from San Jose or other destinations in Costa Rica. Please contact us directly to check in for prices and reservations.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nBy Bus<br \/>\n<\/strong>You will have to find the bus station of Puntarenas in San Jose\u00a0. You journey will be for about 2.5 hours till you get to the bus station in Paquera. Then take a taxi to the ferry port. The ferry costs about 750 colones per person. Once there you can arrange a taxi transfer to Mal Pais, or take another bus to El Carmen.
