The Sotheim family which owns this place is fastidious about maintaining the right sustainable policies, initiating innumerable conservation programs and creating the Rancho Margot Ranger Station in a tie up with the Monteverde Children’s Eternal Forest. Nestled on the Lake Arsenal shores and the beautiful Cano Negro River Valley, while being surrounded by a verdant rainforest landscape, Rancho Margot is also known for its educational, wellness focused and adventure recreational activities. The Soheims are not just focusing on following sustainable practices but are also continuously involved in sharing their expertise in the field of eco-conservation with guests through a number of interactive environment educational centered activities. Racho Margot, apart from being a working ranch, is also a pleasant countryside appeal exuding property complete with a working farm, a pig farm, an organic vegetable/fruit plantation, a medicinal plant zone and a cute chicken farm. The ranch is also dedicated to the cause of animal rescue and reintegration with a well-maintained onsite center devoted to it. This low-key and high-efforts holiday retreat with it heart firmly in its place cuts the trimmings of the more opulent luxury eco resorts and focuses on offering its patrons a more personalized, family-friendly, homey and unadulterated natural environment.

Activities and Amenities

Rancho Margot’s deceptively casual appearance veils a wide selection of fun adventure and nature based activities. The lodge puts together activities such as thrilling horseback rides to Mirador, kayaking tours on Arenal Lake, exciting wildlife night treks in the surroundings jungle, day trips to attractions in the vicinity and a tour of its sustainable ranch. The ranch also houses a complete Healing Center (at a lush spot in the middle of an isolated patch over a small brook), where guests can relax with massage treatments and bracing Reiki sessions. Rancho Margot is also known for its yearly yoga training programs and yoga retreats (other retreats such as Tai chi, Qigong, Reiki and Acupuncture). This multifaceted working ranch also features a full range of educational programs and nature workshops for all ages. In-house amenities at this old-fashioned countryside ranch include a restaurant, a bar, Wi-Fi internet and a couple of natural pools. This self-sufficient ranch promotes the spirit of healing and sharing knowledge in a pure natural energy exuding setting.

Accommodation

Rancho Margot’s accommodation options cover 17 deluxe bungalows (hidden by the lodge’s striking botanical gardens). Each bungalow is aesthetically decorated with a wooden finish, and features a private bath, private terrace (from where guests can enjoy neat vistas of their pristine natural surroundings), two queen beds or a single queen bed and a couple of single (all with orthopedic mattresses) and relaxing hammocks. More budget conscious travelers and backpackers can out up at Rancho Margot’s dormitory type bunk house that is basic and minimalist in its appeal yet radiates a comfortable and clean aura. Bunkhouses come with shared bathrooms, 5 showers, 5 toilets and a shared meeting space.

Rates

The rate per night for single occupancy is $ 90 USD, while that for double is $ 75 USD at the bunkhouse.
