Funte Verde

Fuente Verde, an organic farm, is situated in near the small village of Las Tumbas, in the mountains on the southwest Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Set between the beach town of Dominical and San Isidro de El General, this farm overlookes the Pacific Coast. This organic farm is surrounded by amazing cloud forest with natural springs. With its fertile soils and abundant water, this 60-acre (24 hectares) organic farm is as beautiful as it is bountiful. It is designed according to Permaculture principles and it provides sustainable eco-friendly environment. From this farm you can easily access to beaches, shopping centers and in this area you will enjoy a comfortable micro-climate.

If you want to enjoy a real hands-on farming experience and to participate in a volunteer program, you will find this place perfect. While staying at this farm, you can enjoy learning about sustainable Permaculture practices and design, tropical forestry, aquaculture and botany, seed preservation, chocolate making, yoga, earth-bag building and more.

Mission and Vision:

Fuente Verde has a mission to make a mixed-use ecologically designed community where the residents can live within a working organic farm. Its goal is to make a socially and ecologically enriching community. It is working for creating a model environment through regenerative design processes.

Permaculture Design Course:

At this organic farm Permaculture principles are followed in the design and implementation of the community. Visitors from other countries and also the local participants can enjoy tours offered by the farm. This farm also offers Certified Permaculture courses which can also be scheduled upon request. You will meet experienced and accredited local teachers. Fuente Verde Community Center can accommodate up to 15 people. While taking part in the Permaculture course, you will also enjoy delicious meals which are prepared with locally-sourced organic products.

Normally this farm offers Permaculture Design course for 2 week period including plenty of class time, tours to the local area farms and also practical tasks. If anyone want to have hold a PDC course on Fuente Verde with a group, can contact them for more information and price ranges.

Birding:

Fuente Verde is set within eye-sight of the ocean and backing up to a cloud forest that makes this place a perfect destination for different species of birds. Seasonally different species of birds also migrate to this place. This property has jungle trails, gardens, various ponds and tree-lines which are ideal for the countless birds.

Membership:

Fuente Verde offers people an opportunity to co-create their own neighborhood. New community members are welcomed in its contemporary sustainable lifestyle. They seek skilled and inspired men, women and families who are conscious, friendly, talented and will compliment the farm’s harmonious vision. When you will be a member of Fuente Verde, your membership will include the home site you prefer and electricity and water to that particular site. You will also be equal-ownership of the entire farm including all infrastructures and additionally a growing number of revenue streams, respect and an equal voice.
